It looks interesting, but I have not been able to track down any reviews. It might end up being just another history of the war.

You can pre-view the first 73 pages for free at the link below. There are 26 chapters, and based on the title of the chapters, it would appear this is a historical account of the political and military aspects of the war, and not the day-to-day living of the common citizen.

FULL DISCLOSURE: I did not read the free 73 pages, but only spot-checked my assumptions on several pages. I'm sure it's a solid historical history reference, but wouldn't assume it to be an account of daily activities of the average family.
