D'après cet article, Jean Coluche aurait pris part à la campagne de 1815, mais on ne dit pas dans quel régiment. Haha great story! Again one sees the 17e Legere being a 'chosen' regiment for special duties (remember the Santon @ Austerlitz). The fact that a composite 'guard' was used to protect the Emperor speaks volumes about the versatility of the organisation. regards d |

Good to get the story behind the familiar image. Curious detail about the Ribbon; there's at least one example of N detaching his own Cross of the L d'H and presenting to, I believe, some Russian (probably 1807). Of course, that would have been a well planned "spontaneous" gesture, with an appropriate quality of medal; maybe, on this occasion, the common Fantassin wasn't going to get a Top Of The Range medal such as N normally wore! Pure speculation, naturally; and there's something about the coarse joke by Le Petit Caporal which does ring true. |

Au bruit de cette scène, les généraux et les aide-de-camp accoururent. Napoléon rentra et Coluche fut entraîné au Corps de Garde: "tu es perdu, tu vas être fusillé" lui dirent certains de ces camarades. "tu vas être décoré" lui assurèrent d'autres, finalement il ne fut ni fusillé, ni décoré (Y F. Masson) – La légende est fautive, car il fut fait Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, à la suite de sa blessure à Arcis (Aube) le 21 mars 1814. |

The Base Léonore confirms that Coluche was nominated as late as 1814 (on 12 March 1814 though, so before he was wounded, if he was wounded): link This didn't prevent Coluche to profit a little from his legend: link |
