Our editor just announced the release of the English version of our second volume about the Waterloo armies covering the allied armies of Wellington, i.e. Dutch-Belgian, Hanoverian, Brunswick and Nassau troops. You may order it directly at link Some sample pages are shown with the German version at link … and in case you don't get notice of the first volume covering the English armies, just check link Right now we're finishing the 3rd volume about the Prussians and finally we'll do the final volume about the French armies. Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

'Costumes' isn't the best word to use here. 'Uniforms' is so much more acceptable. |

Indeed uniforms would be more appropriate … but as Charles Lyall, who we identified in the first volume, was an opera singer, this could be the reason why he baptized his series of plates "Costumes of Waterloo". Greetings from Berlin Markus Stein |

And yet the title cover shown clearly states uniforms? Literal translations often fail. And yes, artists wear costumes, as actors. Web description- "…of the Armies engaged at Waterloo. Volume 2: The Allied Armies." "engaged" equally does not appear in the facsimile cover. Good for you Markus for reaching out to the 'English speaking' history fraternity with these titles, but I also might engage one as a post-editor. regards davew |
