Ive watched few youtube videos and read a couple reviews. Just wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on positives and negatives. Replayability, etc… If there are any expansions you particularly found useful, etc… I've kinda given up on waiting for BFG. Thanks for any thoughts. PS. If you painted up any ships and feel like sharing any thoughts or pics, please do! |

They were selling the ships in a mixed pack of 34 for 10 pounds. I picked up one.Waiting for it to be delivered. |

I picked it up via the KS. Played several times and found it an interesting and engaging variant of the command and colors engine, but won't comment on it as a space fleet game as I've no experience with any others. Sure feels like one though! Have yet to crack open the expansions. The ships, a fair few came warped in the middle withba slight curve, so never painted them. In game you don't notice that warping too much however |

To anyone that's interested, the game, ships, & expansions are all on sale at about 50% off right now: link Even with shipping to the US that's a better deal than on Amazon. @McWong, that's a bummer about the ships. I definitely would have enjoyed painting them. |

I got a copy during a holiday sale and have played it several times. As McWong73 mentions, it is an interesting variant of the Command & Colors system. There are differences form other games in the series that give is a starship fight feel. But if you've played other C&C games you should be able to get into this version without too many issues. Replayability is added through the use of Task Force cards with variable OOBs, so you can end up playing the same scenario with different forces. The game has a pretty big footprint, which may be seen as a negative. The map is 125cm x 140cm (approx 49in x 55 in) and you'll need a place for the card piles too. I didn't have any major problems with my ships. But I haven't painted them (too much other stuff on the painting table). |

I watched them play this for several years at the Orlando shows. Richards booth is next to mine. During play test they used star ships from several rule sets. I am not sure if unit capability cards come with the ship sets or not. If not I do not see a game mechanic problem using ships from other sets. I have seen a Star Trek fleet game using Star Fleet models. It played fine using the Red Alert rules. |

I got a chance to read comments and reviews over at the BGG today. A common thread seemed to be that it's a very fun game but it's not a good simulation of fleet combat. I seem to recall similar complaints about the first C&C Ancients, and I loved that game. |

PSC themselves, there is a link earlier in the topic but here one direct to the products….. link Oh and thanks Uesugi Kenshin, I've been considering getting these for a while, if only for the ships. Managed to convice family that this would be a good gift for my birthday that is coming up in a few months. |

Glad to help Earl! I'll be getting it too probably mostly for use with my Nephews. I think I will try painting them up with some simple schemes. The PSC sale lasts through March fyi… |

I got to play a couple of games of it, and it is pretty fun (probably more so once you get a better idea of how the rules work when you read those, and really know what's going on), and has a decent amount of strategy to it. You get a number of points, and get some ability to choose the forces you'll use for your battles, e.g. light, medium, and heavy vessels mixes, based upon your tactics and what you think will be best to fight your opponents. Battles are pretty linear though, so more like ancients/napoleonics in space than my view of "fleet combat" as well, but what do I know about far-future spaceship battles? If they can/could address that, and/or add in sectors for each side to protect in depth, for a more "campaign-like" system, like with Imperium, I think that would be better. There is a campaign system that comes with the rules, IIRC, or at least a series of linked battles. |

Are there any photos of the merchant/cargo ships? Looked on the PSC site but struck out…… |

@Gaz, I don't own the game yet but I think these are the transport ships pictured below: link link Obviously you could use non-PSC ships for transports, civilian ships, Med ships etc… |

I ended up diving into the 50% off sale. I picked the base game, the Dreadnought, Logistics/ Supply Ship, and 3x Carrier Expansions. I'll post some thoughts when I get some ships painted or get a game under my belt. |
