Scrapped and dumped???

Hmmm, doesn't seem like the normal, Russian way that I recall. During the Cold War they even had a lot of WWII surplus armor in storage.

During the Ukrainian/Russian conflict, someone even activated a JS-III if I recall correctly, pulling it off its monument pedestal and cranking it up. Don't know if it did any damage to anything, but it was at least "activated" as I recall.

They still have thousands in storage. They've been shipping T-62s to Syria recently.

The T80s were withdrawn but are now being restored back to service.
