Thanks for posting. I will check it out.

Which ones are less obscure or more common, and appropriately, highly rated as a good value?

Dang it Tango… I just spent a bunch of money because of this.

I found this "clipdraw" thing while wandering at youtube… looks perfect for me. I ordered one!

You know… I own 5 or 6 holsters and I don't like any of them. Perhaps this will be the one.

Looks like the Bersa BP9 is the one to really focus on. Still being made (unlike several others on his list), and way, way cheaper than the others ($300-350 as opposed to shelling out a grand for a no-longer-produced handgun).

Thanks for that Tango!

A votre service mes amis!. (smile)

Sorry Skipper… (smile)

So, how does this concealed carry thing work then?

? Do you draw when someone looks at you funny? In the bar?
? Do you draw when someone looks at you funny? In the church?
? Do you draw when someone overtakes you in a better car?
? Do you draw when someone takes the last puff pastry packet off the chilled-goods shelf?
? Do you draw when someone is lost and knocks on your door for help?
? Do you draw when someone is lost and knocks on your door for some milk?

? Once you've drawn – what are the rules of engagement? Do you present a red card, or an amber one, or a green one? Do you double-tap? Do you Mozambique? What happens during a stoppage (jam) ? What happens if you run out of ammunition first? Do you also carry a body-bag around too? Do you get reduced insurance?

Is there a book I can read so I can understand any of this a little bit more?

skipper John03 Mar 2020 4:39 p.m. PST

Dude… You draw and fire. 3 at a time. And you do it just before they kill you. Works every time.

Stoppage03 Mar 2020 6:15 p.m. PST

No doubt. Though they'd be getting the whole magazine at once from me.

But – questions remain – how do you get up to that point?

And, does the concealed carry make you go crazy places, meet crazy people, and do crazy things?

khanscom04 Mar 2020 7:52 a.m. PST

"And, does the concealed carry make you go crazy places, meet crazy people, and do crazy things?"

No… sometimes crazy people doing crazy things come to you; it's good to be prepared for that by whatever means.

USAFpilot04 Mar 2020 8:09 a.m. PST

As seen in the news; sometimes crazy people show up at your church or the mall and start shooting people. The idea is to shoot them before they shoot you. The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.

@ Skipper John – Thanks for posting that link for the holster.

Since I cc the LCP that should work great.

Dave

PS: What is your favorite loadout?

SeattleGamer05 Mar 2020 12:31 a.m. PST

@Stoppage … was that a serious question or are you just trolling here?

The "point" of concealed carry is to be able to defend yourself or others during a crisis. It is not just "carry a gun, so if somebody looks at you funny you can blast them". That would be murder.

Someone serious about getting a permit should take training. Not just on how to load, point and shoot, but learning about situational awareness.

In the calm of your home you need to think about what it means to take a life. You need to understand that there will be an investigation, and in some situations, you will be charged with a serious crime.

If you understand that, and want to proceed, then you learn about situational awareness. This means you need to remain alert at all times. No wandering to your car with the cell pinned to your ear. You pause when leaving a building. You note other people, what are they doing? You make eye contact with people as you make your way around. You project that you are alert, paying attention, and not a victim.

You can class the situation around you using color codes, with red being the worst. Unrest. Arguments taking place, people loitering about looking furtive. Etc.

You KNOW you have a weapon on you. It should ONLY be pulled in a dire emergency. Not because somebody looked at you funny. Not because somebody called out you looked like a jerk. Not because somebody took your parking spot.

But if lives are at stake, you can choose to get involved,, or just dive flor cover and let somebody else jump in. You can wait for the cops like everybody else. You can run to the back of the store and hide.

But you have the choice to get involved if you deem it necessary. If you have the skills, if you believe lives are at stake and if you do nothing, lives will be taken.

And a killing spree in a church or store or city park can go from what might have been 30 killed to one or two, because you had the mindset to be prepared.

Some people have jumper cables to help out other people.

Some people have guns to help save lives.

Nobody knows when I am carrying. I have never needed to draw my weapon. I don't act tough. I don't swagger. I am not looking for a fight, I am trying to avoid one by being aware of my surroundings. I am aware that I have the power of life and death when I carry, and I pray to God that I am never put into a position where I might need to act.

But I can act, if action is necessary.

The US Constitution guarantees me the right to "bear" arms, so I got (and renew) my permit so that I can.

@seattle

Thanks – I now understand a little more.

Yes indeed Seattle – Bravo Zulu for a very nicely written response. Accurate and well reasoned, it is what I often tell people when asked about this subject.
