What a great project. I will follow with interest. I haven't exactly replicated that painting myself … but I have based some of my figures on it (see the guys on the right in this pic).
Or you could do the version of the Night Watch that my teenage daughter drew for me last year!

Interestingly, my daughter (who knows nothing about military history and uniforms) like you had quite some difficulty interpreting Rembrandt's "unknown man" in the above painting. |
