"Wolves from Niagara is a history of the much-feared Butler's Rangers, an American Loyalist unit, who waged a relentless war against the Patriot backed settlements from New York to Kentucky during the American Revolution, 1777-1784. Such engagements as Oriskany, Wyoming, Cherry Valley, the Sullivan Campaign, the destruction of the Schoharie Valley, Blue Licks and many others are covered. The book also deals with the commander of the Rangers, John Butler, and his role at the start of the war to bring the various Iroquois tribes over to the British side. He was partially successful. As the war progressed and turned ugly, hundreds of Loyalist women and children sought refuge at Fort Niagara, as did thousands of displaced and starving Indians. Feeding all these hungry mouths was a momentous task at times. This is covered in the book, as is the disbandment of the Rangers in 1784. An appendix is included listing all the Ranger captains."
