Sorry above was posted in great haste as had to dash out – corrected version below – the notes below were adapted from George Nafziger's 2The Armies of Germany and the Confederation of the Rhine 1792-1815 Volume 2"

When Baden joined the Allies all of the captured Baden troops were sent back to Baden.

on 1 January 1814 the Leib-Grenadier-Garde & 1st Horse battery marched from Karlsruhe to join the Prussian Guard infantry brigade. On 13 January crossed the Rhine near Basel as part of the Russo-Prussian Guard Corps.

Funny. I am sure many of us still think of 1815 as just the Army of the North, Wellington and Blucher somewhere between Mt St Jean and Paris.

Thank you for the information, much appreciated.
Didn't realise they raised landwehr battalions, probably dark blue tunics, red facings and a landwehr cross on caps or shakos.

Prince of Essling23 Feb 2020 5:13 a.m. PST

Unfortunately Nafziger is silent on the Landwehr uniforms and I couldn't find any in the Boisselier gouaches of the Baden army.

W J Rawkins has: No positive details found, but 2 conflicting descriptions!

1st given to Rawkins by Rene North in the 1980s – uniform as for line infantry, double breasted coat as for "inhaber" regiment on the collar but with dark blue cuffs & brass buttons for all battalions.

2nd from correspondence with Dr Peter Gebhardt of Karlsruhe in 1980s – dressed in Prussian fashion in a long coat and white trousers with a shako & black belts. He interpreted this to mean shakos probably of Prussian pattern, and uberrock or Litewka probably without facing colours & may have been distinguished with a colour patch or number on the collar. Trousers thought to be white overalls. The uberrock was in use by others in the Baden army so may be reasonable conjecture.

Unfortunately neither author gave the original source of their quotation.

For 1814 the Landwehr battalion were brigaded as follows:
2nd, 3rd & 4th battalions with 3rd line regiment
1st, 5th & 6th battalions with 2nd line regiment
7th & 8th battalions with 1st line regiment.

Thanks for the landwehr uniform information, either simple uniform seems likely.
