I was always fond of the Saladin. YouTube link Principal users were the British Army and the old West German border police. The APC variant was the Saracen. |

Taken out of service from Northern Ireland as the engine was so loud , apparently it could be heard from six miles away . |

Reminds me of when I was a teenager and ravaging the Roco models rack at the local hobby shop. I had bought about a dozen Saladins for my British Army in WWII North Africa force. My friend casually mentioned to me one day, "I think that the Saladin was a post WWII vehicle". My reply was the "WHAT!!!" heard around the world that day. |

Thanks. I still have my Roco Saladin somewhere -- with my Airfix Scorpion and Scimitar, most likely. It was nice to see a real one in action. |
