I recently pulled out an archive of Wild West miniatures I purchased from OldGlory25s in 2011. I find the GW Contrast Paints are providing a decent look, but most importantly are allowing for a quicker finish of so much unpainted boxes I have in storage. It also helps my locally stocked store stay in business. Overall, a feel good painting story.

I found out the same thing with WWW2 and Ancients.

Yes, large armies are definitely easy to table now. I have caught a lot of flak for using them, but it was either this method or end up leaving thousands of unpainted metal figures surviving beyond me:)

Those look pretty nice. Above average, actually, and better than my standard dipped figures I table.

They look good to me. I've been thinking of trying the contrast paints. I too have a backlog of gunfighter figures, but unfortunately they are black-primed.

Nice. Thanks for posting. The quantity of my work has increased with contrast paint as well. Lots getting done.

whats the thoughts on varnishing? I've heard that they really need some protection/can rub off raised areas easily. I'm not piling on as I have bought a heap to try, just curious to hear from those who have used them.

cheers
Jon.

I have used Vallejo Matte brush on to protect. I heard the same, but I believe it has to do with the GW primers? not sure? I have used Flat White Krylon primer/paint, rather than their sprays. No issues with paint loss.

I have also painted MARS Vietnam plastic 54mm figures with the GW Contrast, heavily handled with no paint loss. For those, I used same primer above, then Vallejo Gloss brush on, and then Vallejo Matte brush on.

Thanks for the advice mate, much appreciated. I like the look of your 54mm, they are nice indeed, so I'll follow your Vallejo advice,

cheers
Jon.
