The same hut as I have shown you previously, just raised from the ground, as many of the jungle huts ,you can see on historic pictures, were.

Complete with an underground entrance to a VC hideout. Or is it just a storeroom?

Really clever. Love the underground entrance beneath the stilts but God help the occupants when it rains! Bet Charlie has way of waterproofing it though…

Always worth a stop to look at your work.

As for rain, I *thought* tropical huts were meant to simply allow water to enter & quickly flow away. That is, they're not meant to be water tight. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

thumbs up

That underground entrance may be a hide/cache, or leads to a tunnel complex. I was told sometimes the locals would hide their children or even VC when they saw what they believed might be trouble.

Sadly I heard of an incident where a US CAV unit, IIRC was moving thru an area. The hide was so well camo'd the CAV didn't see it. However, one of their AFVs[M113 or M48, etc. ?] drove over it and the ground gave way. It turned out the locals hide some of their children there. Once the CAV realized what had happened they tried to save the children, do first aid, etc. IIRC, for many of them it was too late.

Another horror of a war full of horrors …

Nice! You seem to be able to think of something and Pop! It becomes real.

Sorry, my point was about the ingenious idea to add the underground hideout.

The house is on stilts as it in a flood plain obviously. What I meant was God help the occupants of the tunnel in that case.

But the whole thing is brilliant….

Houses on stilts are also built in mountainous areas.

Clever…because they are built on a slope of course! (No I would not dare crack the Top Gear joke that nearly got the presenters sacked as non PC).

DURRRH. Never knew that…..thanks!
