The Gembloux Gap campaign for Chain of Command begins to draw towards its climax. French success in the last game has inspired a local counter attack. If they can push the Germans back to Map 3 then they have the chance to win a major campaign victory in the final game. But can the French do it? Full AAR here Counter-attack at Villeroux

A win! And with none of your squads deploying? It seemed odd that this game was all about armour and it was a French attack! CoC is a great rule-set but I am still not totally happy in some way about how it handles vehicles. Were there no other more powerful support weapons available? I guess it's too early for a Pak-38 (they're too rare?) but perhaps a sIG-33 or better still a Flak-36! Good luck in the next game |

Really enjoyable, as always, thanks TacticalPainter! I really enjoy CoC because it always makes for a fun and plausible game. My one niggle is in attack-defend type scenarios why does a prepared defensive position (I appreciate it wasn't in this game) suffer so much uncertainty about when their troops are going to turn up? Does anybody feel the same and have house rules for it? |

My one niggle is in attack-defend type scenarios why does a prepared defensive position (I appreciate it wasn't in this game) suffer so much uncertainty about when their troops are going to turn up? Does anybody feel the same and have house rules for it? Funny, I've never considered this a problem and certainly not experienced any issue with it. If anything I often decline to deploy as the defender in the early stages. In this game you can see how I held back my deployment until I felt it was the right time Westwind KonigsbergScenario 3 I find that your troops will always turn up, it's more about managing the timing than anything else. The more you play the better you become at judging this. |

Were there no other more powerful support weapons available? I guess it's too early for a Pak-38 (they're too rare?) but perhaps a sIG-33 or better still a Flak-36! Good luck in the next game A PaK36 was the only AT gun. The unit is part of 3rd Panzer and most of their armour was PzI and II. It's one reason the games have been so infantry based. Historically, just prior to this battle French AT guns had chewed up that armour and so the division was looking at using the infantry to break a gap in the French lines before the armour could be released again. The campaign is predominantly focussed on this infantry action (as you might expect for an infantry skirmish set of rules). |
