Thermopylae would be one of the best since you would not be tortured or mutilated and you would be remembered as a hero by Greece. Same reason for the Alamo being one of the most glorious although I still don't enjoy the idea of being bayoneted while cornered in a room. Another thing that makes them preferable is in both cases the side that was wiped out inflicted heavy losses on the victors. There would be probably be some satisfaction in taking many of them with you and being remembered as a hero by your country. You could also put Camerone in there for the same reasons. Masada would also count as being remembered favorably by your country even though they didn't die fighting there.
Little Bighorn, Fetterman, Isandlwana, Kabul, Monongahela, Wabash and Teutoburg Forest were all SNAFUS in which your death was very violent and/or painful and did not have the glory of the above mentioned battles either in being remembered as a hero or taking down a lot of the enemy, instead of being studied as proud moments in a country's history they are studied as how not to fight a battle.

Battle of Saragarhi 1897 – 21 Sikh soldiers v estimated 12,000 – 24,000 Afghan tribesmen. Amazingly, much of what happened is recorded because the Sikh signaller continued sending battle reports by heliograph.

There was a (BBC?) documentary a few years back.
