Excellent article ahead of this post about Marbot; the painter Gericault; and the painting of the young officer of the Chasseurs a cheval of the Imperial Guard.

I just realized that this is the anniversary of that battle, and also the birthday of William Tecumseh Sherman, great Union ACW general.

Yes I'm the only person who seemed to care about but I'm glad that's not true. Eylau is one of my favorite Napoleonic battles but it's obscure.

Mine too. That, Austerlitz and Waterloo are my three favorite Napoleonic battles to study.
