My German is limited to colors and uniform terms from the days of working with Handbuch der Uniformkunds (sp?) by Knotel, so I did not get a whole lot out of the blog. The translate feature did not work for me.

Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the painting of Marbot with the Bercheny Hussars. I have never seen that painting before.

I was able to get the translation feature to work. It is an excellent article about how we perceive various historical figures based on paintings, even though the painting may not be that particular historical figure, here Marbot.

Ohh the memories.
Visiting Le Louvre, where Lieutenant Dieudonne hangs in silence; and Pere-la_Chaise, taking the same photo of Gericaults tomb.
Both havens of history, and sombreness to an extent, of why they are there.
