Excellent resource!

This is the first time I ever saw a notation that the Swiss eegiments in Spanish service had red uniforms. I thought they were dark blue.

Can others fill me in?

Thank you Prince of Essling. Excellent sources that all show long-tailed (unique to Swiss) blue coats of Swiss soldiers in Spanish service.

Does anyone have any evidence of a red uniform?

The only red uniforms I have seen are on the French units (1st to 4th Swiss Regiments & Valaison battalion)…

The idea that the Swiss wore red comes from Sapherson (1991). But this thread prompted me to check and of course other sources give the Swiss the standard dark blue coat (I checked Chartrand, 1998; Cronin & Summerfield, 2014; Haythornthwaite, 1995). I have updated my page.
