The 1:700th ships got their first roll out together with a different set of rules.
With three ship to ship historical scenarios selected to model specific ships in classic examples of the chase, including HMS Alexander 74 vs three French 74s, we were looking to see how well we could recreate these historical actions as well as having some fun.

Thank you for a very enjoyable post combining three scenarios with a partial rules review on a lovely table with very nicely done models. :-) I'm curious how you made the chases work, particularly since so many actions began with a chase. I understand your points about variable movement and about ensuring the starting positions are sufficiently close. One ship chasing another of the same speed will make for a dull game. However, unless the ships' speed differentials are greatly exaggerated, you quickly run out of table. Real chases could last hours over many miles. Do you shift all the models back a certain distance each turn? Is movement calibrated relative to one ship in the chase (i.e. ships only move relative to each other)? I would love to hear how you model it. |
