"Most people are acquainted with at least the basic facts about the French Resistance. There are copious popular books, plays and films, and of course, the much-loved BBC comedy ‘Allo 'Allo. But few are quite so well versed on another resistance movement that played out in Europe towards the end of World War II. Just across the Alps, Italians were protesting German occupation and hiding out in the homes of willing locals.

Despite the fact that many British and Commonwealth nationals lived and fought alongside the Italian partisans, this entry in Italy's history has largely been ignored…"

When I lived in Germany, my landlord had been shot thru the lung by an Italian partisan. It led to some memorable end of the war adventures for him in the hospital and recovery which found him in Berlin at wars end.

Yes like many things in WWII history, this got little time in the history books, etc.

Now IIRC in both France and Italy, they had both Nationalist and Communist partisans ? And IIRC in the PI in the PTO too ?

Might be an interesting addition to FoW scenarios for the Italian front. Get some use out of some partisans one might have for the game. Also reminds me of a film,"Hornet's Nest"

My sister-in-law's father, now long deceased, was an Italian resistance fighter. I never heard any of his stories, if he told any at all.
