Recently Tango01 posted a great topic on Birth of the Cobra, link the first dedicated helicopter gunship which initially saw action in Vietnam. Here is the article from Air & Space Magazine on the scout helicopter that worked with the Cobra gunship to locate the enemy. link Tom |

True story. I was at the military museum in Austin TX a few years ago. A woman was there with her daughter at an exhibit of a loach. She said to her daughter "That's a reconnaissance helicopter, when you see it on the ground burning you'll know the enemy is nearby." |
