Just posted a report on a run through of the "To Ur is Human" Sumerian city state rules: link |

Ah, that brings back memories of last November's Society Conference. Fun rules, especially if you can roll unfeasible numbers of 6s. |

Martin Goddard of Peter Pig/RFCM once said when asked for tactical advice "Roll lots of sixes". It bis hard to improve upon as an idea, most of the time. |

@John Edmundson And they're available for a mere £5.00 GBP at Wargame Vault, link , something I did especially for people who can't get the hard copy from Amazon on account of living miles from civilization. And if you like punning titles, try these: link |

One of the best AAR titles I have ever seen. |

@PHGamer: Technically it's the name of the rules. I left them on the table for all of the photos, pretty much. |

"And if you like punning titles, try these: link" Beautiful! |

Hoping we get to see more games with these rules and those 20mms! |
Trebian | 23 Jan 2020 2:57 a.m. PST |
@Maxshadow: I'm looking forwards to seeing some other people run games with them and post reports. If you like 20mm plastic figures then there's lots on the blog if you take a look, – ancients, medievals, horse & musket. The quality and availability of inexpensive plastic injection moulded 20mm figures is amazing these days. |

I bought these and having read them, quite like them. However I'm a bit disturbed by slingers 'charging' javelin troops. Not a thing I would have thought possible. |
Trebian | 23 Jan 2020 8:25 a.m. PST |
@Jarrovian: That's a fair comment. I started out with them all as psiloi types, so that carried on to the final version. If you're not happy with it stop them doing so. Personally I wouldn't charge anyway, as the superior range makes them more valuable, and the hand to hand is a crap shoot on the outcome. |

Also the 'charge' is often just a bit of intimidation and amongst lighter troops tends to be a consequence of the victims failing a fear test – so in that case you might just be prepared to chase them off. Then again, I don't know that much about Sumerian warfare Phil |

Yes, once you've knocked an opposing unit down by a base, a charge will normally be enough to chase them off, all other things being equal. |

I look at it from the point of view that, if I'm a slinger, with an effective ranged weapon, why would I want to get closer to someone with anything sharp. Just not in my pay grade or ethos. |
Trebian | 25 Jan 2020 3:02 a.m. PST |
@Jarrovian; That option is available to slingers, as I said above. I would not normally charge with them, except to see off some raggedy rattled opponents. Of course the mechanism does give your slingers a fair chance of refusing to charge and going home instead. |
