What are the best games for focusing on Command & Control at the Battalion or perhaps Regimental level? Thinking bf the stereotypical 1980s Cold War Gone Hot but would also take something that works for ultramodern. David Brown is putting out "O Group", which is a WW2 ruleset that deals with this scale and really focuses on the command choices being made, instead of getting into the nitty-gritty of HE vs AP rounds and armor thickness. I have FFT3 which works for this level if I want to focus on the nitty-gritty (and there's plenty of times I do want to roll buckets of dice and blown up tanks), but is basically totally lacking a C&C system. I prefer to play it at the Company level, where I want to focus on the individual vehicle. I also have Cold War Commander, which has a good system for modelling command friction, but otherwise doesn't have much in terms of orders or the like. I've also not got much experience with it, so maybe I'm underselling it. So what's out there? Modern Spearhead? |

Operational Manouvrre Group might fiot the bill. Or if you want a more Beer and Pretzels approach 5core: Brigade Commander. |

Do you have a link or more info for that first set? I've seen the "Maneuver Group" rules but I don't think that's the same one |

There is us, link But probably only at Battalion level with vehicles not foot. Uniquely at this level you don't write orders but you do have to schedule the artillery and allocate it to forces and/or pre-plan it. That restricts what you can do quickly if you change your mind. Its strength is the movement system which means you have to have a plan, and mostly stick to it, even though you don't have toi write it down. Also if the enemy sees it and does not second guess it he can't conform immediately. There are other issues with the command system so it does make you think at the top level. Its 1to 1 so that may not be to your liking and it certainly won't go as it stands, to Regimental level. |

Give Command Decision: Test of Battle a look. The game itself only covers WW2 but there are extensive user lists and rules to cover modern and cold war. |
