I use similar "cheapo" brushes as well. They, with a bit of care, last as Long and are as good as the "named" brand stuff |

My favourite are Rosemany & Co 401 synthetic/sable mix brushes. Reasonably priced and with a long work life. Tony |

A craft store AC Moore has been going out of business so I have stopped about 6 times stocking up on brushes. I try but they don't last long for me. |

I've said it before but it obviously bears repeating. You can get four (4) very nice, fine detail brushes, down at the local Wally World (Wal-Mart for those of you from Rio Linda) for the paltry sum of $3.95 USD US. In the past, I've spent up to $6 USD-$8 apiece! Last just as long, just take proper care, and it doesn't hurt nearly as bad when you DO eventually trash them! I keep reading that many of you have problems cuz you get paint in the ferule. Unless your upside down painting the Cistine Chapel, you should never get paint in the ferule, you should be using the tip of the brush and keep your paint nearby and refresh and refill it frequently. I usually only paint 3 or 4 strokes, dip my brush, 3 or 4 stokes, dip my brush, etc. When doing fine detail work like braid, dip, stroke, dip, stroke, etc. you get the picture. |
