link There is a chap called Sean Bartholome of El Paso Texas. He runs a company called Ace marketing Agency LLC. Nothing controversial there. He has uploaded the following titles to Scribd. An online place to ? He has uploaded 1. Charlie Company 2.FNG 3. Batlefield evolution 4. Lardies Chain of Command, bag the hun, Triumph of the Will and others 5. Beat to Quarters 6. harpoon 7. Nuts 8. Force on Force 9. Peter Pig's PBI etc Usually when such things are brought to the TMP attention, some TMP members say "good on him for making things free for me" others say "piracy and dishonesty should not be commended". The questions are these A. Is he a "hero"? B Is he a "villain"? C Does he make money by uploading copyrighted material to Scribd? D. Is he in your gaming group? martin |

SCUM – And why does the myth of not charging for something mean you are allowed to give away copies of it persist? (Item C) |

B. Scribd makes money on this as you would have to pay for membership. |

B. I fail to see how it could be any other choice. Indeed, I hope that some here send emails to the offended copyright holders ASAP. Its theft. |

When I clicked your link it lead to a Nuts supplement uploaded by a John Cunningham. Only PBI was uploaded by Sean Bartholome, all those other rules listed where uploaded by different people so they all deserve to share the blame equally. I had no idea that it was such a problem though! It's a bit of a dilemma as exposing them like this also makes more people aware of where to find loads of rulesets for free! I'd recommend deleting the link and writing to Scribd to have it taken down as it's broken their rules. "Scribd places certain limits on content that our members can upload. You agree that you will not upload content that: is illegal, or promotes or enables illegal or unlawful activities; violates any applicable law or regulation; infringes the copyright, patent rights, trade marks, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights of another person or entity (see Scribd's Copyright Resource Center for more information)" If you are feeling public spirited you should also write to the creators of the other rulesets and alert them

Good points al. I have publicised it here in the hope that the other writers see it. I have also e mailed SCRIBD. I suspect Sean and others make quite a good income from the downloads? |

I'd recommend deleting the link and writing to Scribd to have it taken down as it's broken their rules. If I am not mistaken, there is also a TMP rule against linking to online documents like this that infringe copyright… |

Villain. He doesn't even have the oft-claimed "justification" that these are out of print (no, it's not a justification, just theft). |

We only have to click on that exclamation mark icon to complain and it will be off TMP I am sure. But that does not remove it from this Internet thing…. Hard to believe that the "creator" is a Robin Hood anarchist, who is doing all this without any profit motive, but it may be so….. |

It's not one person though, all those rules sets were uploaded by different people. That means there is a greater problem with peoples ethics in this hobby |

E – he's not a villain, he's a criminal and can be prosecuted and jailed. |

B. As RR points out, these aren't even "lost" works or cases where we can't find the copyright holder, but outright theft of a commercial product. |

"he's a criminal and can be prosecuted and jailed." The local DA likely won't touch it (small potatoes), but the FBI most likely would (if you believe all those FBI anti-pirating notices at the start of programs on your DVD's…) |

As for criminality – This normally falls under civil rather then criminal law and would require the rights holder to make a claim for compensation. There is a point where it does turn into criminal law but I have no idea where the line is drawn and don't plan on needing to find out. |
