Hi so I've just ordered the Star Trek Ascendancy game. Inspired by this I wondered whether anyone could recommend any of the Star Trek novels? Thanks. |

Anything by Barbara Hambly and John M. Ford. Dianne Duane's My Enemy, My Ally and The Romulan Way. (Yes, once there were Star Trek novels written by real science fiction writers.) Peter David's Q-Squared and Q in Law. |

The Final Reflection – which I think is a John M Ford novel. |

"How Much for Just the Planet" – not much for gaming, unless you want to reenact the scene with Scotty and the Klingon playing golf, but it is a hilarious read. Wyatt |

Interesting. Yes, "The Final Reflection" is a John M. Ford novel--and so is "How Much for Just the Planet?" I don't know that we have a winner, but we do seem to have a consensus. (And if you take up reading John M. Ford novels, don't miss "The Dragon Waiting." Not Star Trek, but first-rate work, and with wargame and/or RPG potential.) |

+1 on The Final Reflection. Read a long time ago, but the growing burden of Star Trek canon was beginning to wear me down. This book brought it back for me, at least for the next generation. |

So I'm reading My Enemy, My Ally at the moment but will try John F Ford next. Thanks once again for the suggestions. |

Anything written by Judith and Garfield Reeves Stevens. I like Prime Directive. Also The Entrophy Effect by Vonda N. McIntyre. |

This is a great topic – thanks for those who replied. Someday, when the plague has cleared and my library re-opens, I plan to follow up on these books. I'm surprised at home much rubbish is posted in this forum, honestly. Like, star trek cat calendars and such. |

'The Wounded Sky' by Diane Duane. New tech, 'alien' aliens, and a great space battle. |
