Many, many people recommend Tank! by Ken Tout, so I finally ordered a copy. Except that "Tank!" was only available for stupidly high prices, so I got "By Tank: D to VE Days" which seemed to be the newer edition. Once it arrived I looked at it and understood that "By Tank: D to VE Days: is an abridged compilation of "Tank!" and two other, similar books. Which leaves me wondering what I might be missing from the first book. On the one hand, this is a larger narrative, and it's more material. On the other hand, it's not all the material from the book I was really looking for. The kind of picayune details I might want as a gamer might be the things that an editor might find superfluous. Has anyone read enough of this series to illuminate the situation? |
