What armies have you been tempted to build, based on an unusual model/unit? Burmese elephant with 6 man crew? A reindeer sled artillery piece? Cataphract scythed chariot? |

Burmese in 15 mm. Check From WRG6, Queen Semiramis' camels as fake elephants. Check Hussites wagons in 15 and 28 mm. Check and check. Flaming pigs in 15mm. Check. I'm sure I have forgotten something I did over the years. |

Did some weather balloons for a recent Cruel Seas game. I read here or somewhere that the British released balloons with cables attached to float over occupied Europe in an effort to short out electrical grids and start fires during WWII. In the scenario 1 RN Trawler was assigned the job of releasing balloons while everyone else was on a variety of different patrol and interdiction missions. |

I read an interesting book on camel drawn wagons in the Australian outback. So, I had to look into this to see if the Australians ever used camel drawn wagons to support their troops (in both world wars, the Australians ended up fighting in camel friendly places). Alas! The army seems only to have used camels in the more normal role of pack animals, or I might have ended up with Light Horse for the Palestine campaign. Grelber |

I remember otters dressed as janissaries -the Otterman Empire. Always regretted not buying some. If you are referring to the Flintloque range "The Otharmann Empyre" then you might be happy to hear that it is still in production by Alternative Armies in UK: link |

The outlandish has always been an attractive feature of ancients armies and collections since Herodotus listed the troops that formed the army that invaded Greece with Xerxes (and told the Greeks about the outlandish dress and customs of their enemies)! Happy New Year Phil |

An entire army of highland cats and lowland dogs with norse pig mercenaries. I designed a game for aerial fantasy fights based on the figures from Battle Valor and some kit bashes. Vampire allies for my undead because of Battle Valor. Pict warriors because of Copplestone. Going to build some renaissance troops to go with the Da Vinci tanks I have. |

25mm Conquistadwarves mounted on a giant lizard. And to fight them, Chihuahuas dressed in Aztec attire, protecting temples that look like Snoopy's doghouse. |
