"One of the prize franchises in the Fox catalog is getting dusted off by Disney.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Fox, now owned by Disney, has hired Maze Runner director Wes Ball to develop and direct a new Planet of the Apes movie. This comes several months after Disney hinted the franchise was part of its plans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas…."

Tell you what: find me a producer, a director and a scriptwriter--remember them? Hollywood used them before it had CGI--all three of whom can pass a written test proving they actually read the book, and then we'll try again.

I'm quite safe, of course. The LARB to the contrary, these people haven't read books in this century.

It's OK, Tango. It's a perfectly legitimate post. It's just not good news.

I need to regard movie-watching more like panning for gold: to be grateful for the nuggets and not focus too much on how much more sand and gravel there is.
