Looking at playing Test of Honour and have picked up some Warlord 28mm miniatures to play with. I have two questions though:

1. What size round base do they usually put the mounted figures on? (I know the individual foot troops are on 25mm round and I have some of the multi-bases already)

2. I have a bunch of Warlord 28mm samurai miniatures but was thinking of buying some different ones to add some more troop types (i.e. sohei, ninjas, unarmored samurai). I like the look of the Perry metal ones. Does anyone know if they are close in scale to the Warlord ones? (I know they are both 28mm but sometimes they don't look right for different ranges)

Thank you,

Ryan

1. The plastic samurai cavalry from Warlord Games come with 40mm round bases; everyone seems to use that.

2. I use Perry and Footsore alongside Warlord/1st edition metals and plastics without any real size or style issues. Indeed, I'm considering relegating the Warlord plastic infantry to second-line duties and replacing them with Perry for "everyday" use.

Note that there is/was quite a lot of size variation in the Warlord range anyway. For example, some of the bandits tower over the plastic "clan" ashigaru & samurai.

If you're after Onna Bugeisha then remember to look at Bad Squiddo as well…

I picked up the Warlord starter samurai army with 20 samurai, 12 mounted samurai, 40 ashigaru spear and 40 ashigaru missile troops. It came with square bases only so I need to rebase them.

I'll definitely look at the Bad Squiddo ones.

The plastic Samurai/Ashigaru figures are about the same height as metals, such as Perry, but have skinnier proportions. If painted up in bright colors, they will mix fine

Ah, just to clarify: the Warlord plastics came with round bases when packaged as "Test of Honour" models [i.e. 1st edition ToH]. You're quite right that the same figures are currently sold as part of their Pike and Shotte (?) range, for which they are provided with square bases.

Sorry for any confusion that may have been caused.
