Something a lot less ambitious than my recent offerings. Three ops in four weeks, razor blades on swallowing and morphine analgesia is not conducive to great modelling. However, I have long planned to model Thoms leading the second assault on the Dong Ba gate. It got him onto the cover of Time magazine, but he is probably best remembered for a series of photos showing his right pants leg ripped wide open and his helmet cover largely burnt off by a previous blast. Two looted shirts replaced what had also been destroyed. Considering he "went commando" it is noticeable how often he is attempting to preserve his modesty in the several photos taken by Olsen! So, one converted Gringos40 figure, one totally "out of the box" and two Empress Miniature figures, alas very dead. Lying prone the disparity in size is really is not obvious at all. I am just waiting to see what Gringos40 will be releasing, as much promised of late….and then I will do a proper model. The brickwork will, of course, then match the background, with washes, but here is a taster. It might encourage Ged to give us what we want, what we really really want?

Oh I have an ambition for something on a much grander scale. I have tried to find every image possible of the tower and gate as it was progressively flattened and would like to recreate a substantial portion of it. There is an amazing series of photos, a few seconds apart, by the photographer who scaled the tower with the assault team, as they dropped all around him.

Yes, that was over 50 years ago. May they RIP those who have passed. I have a number of friends who were in Vietnam, I wish them a long happy life. |

What a marvellous collective noun for US Marines….a term I have not heard used in this sense in decades. Truly, It takes Irish ancestry to use the Queen's English fully. Only snag was it was the NVA who appeared "in swathes"…… Great new releases, ideal for this project to advance now |
