The hive mind is a powerful thing. My daughter is considering studying medicine in the UK, but would like to practice in Ireland/EU. Same question about university in UK but advanced training in Ireland. If anyone out there has experience with this they would be willing to share, would love to pick your brain. Contact me here or mark@scalecreep.com |

You can train in UK and work in Ireland. Many of our nurses train in Ireland and go over to the UK to work. Same with doctors. Though honestly, why anyone would choose to work in the shambles that is our public health service is beyond me. |

One of the strangest things is hospital have vacancies or approvwd expansion but no maney to pay these extra staff. It seems that if each hospital fully staffed to its agreed level they would have no money for patients! GPs are needed urgently but again there's no cash in it apparently. Wages are high but cost of living is much steeper than UK and business costs are astronomic. That said its no bad place to live. |

Try and change her mind (can we say that nowadays?) Germany. Really, Germany. Easy language to learn (and a huge amount of medical terms are German anyway), an abundance of medical positions, great pay, great socials. |

Thanks all. Main question now is train can she train in UK and work in Ireland. Seems to be in better shape (NHS seems to be a bit of a wreck just now) and it gets her in to the EU as well. Just working out a lot of details… |

As I recall British and Irish degrees are fairly inter-changable; there are certainly a lot of Irish grads working in the NHS |
