I started to do some jungle terrain for my Vietnam games. What I missed so far are areas of Elefant Grass. While searching the web for an idea to represent Elefant grass in 28mm I came across artificial grass for gardens. you can find this as test pieces in gardening shops or online. The sample I got is about 2cm high. I started out to do some test pieces on 25 mm round MDF bases I happened to have available.

This is what they look like:

and together with the rest of my jungle, can you spot charly?

You can see a how to here:https://wargamesgazette.com/2019/12/09/elefant-grass/

This looks good.
Not in an attempt to trump your fine work, if I could tell you what I did for my AZW games?

I cut round-ish bases from MDF. I used the Scenic Woodlands long grass tufts, cut to size:

These were glue-gunned on the bases and the usual flocking etc was used.

The effect was not bad.

ochoin that is a good idea ,too. The trick with the artificial grass test stripes is that they come free of charge ( at least in the gardening centre I got them from).

"Free" is my favourite price. Again, I emphasise how good your elephant grass looks. Well done, you.

Artifical grass is also good for fields in any number of locations – often used in our AVBCW games. :-)

I've also tried making elephant grass from artificial turf. For a slightly different result, see here: link

I've been basing terrain on clear plastic lately. Makes it more useful, and sits completely flush to the table.

I would imagine patrolling through that could be a somewhat protracted slow business and any combat would inevitably be a very close-encounter indeed! Inspired work by everyone.

Indeed, Deadhead: fire power nullifier.

I don't game Vietnam (too close to home: not me personally but a family member) but the principle holds for the AZW where my assegai-wielding impis hide behind the grass in order to get close to the martini-Henry carrying British.
