I see that Rick is shutting down his business. So who is the best alternate source for 28mm standards?

And where can I find instructions for the neat wind-blown look the Flag Dude gave them?

Disco Joe02 Dec 2019 5:35 p.m. PST

So where did you hear this? When I was at Fall In convention last month he never said anything about shutting down his business.

It is my understanding that he no longer takes orders, but he is attending and selling at the shows. GMB ( gmbdesigns.com ) does nice flags and so does Maverick Models ( link )

I thought Rick said he was finally catching up on emails.

I bought 10 flags from him at Fall In – he told me if I need any more to contact him and he gave me his card. He sure didn't appear to be planning on shutting down.

Grimmnar02 Dec 2019 10:27 p.m. PST

It's right on his own site.

Darn. Wonder if he would sell out?

Major General Stanley03 Dec 2019 4:20 a.m. PST

A bit odd. I think the site is out of date since he says Historicon would be the last show, but was at Fall In.

Disco Joe03 Dec 2019 5:50 a.m. PST

I also believe the site has not been updated. i received an order from him in the mail that I had placed earlier in the year.

GMB gmbdesigns.com and Flags of War flagsofwar.com both do excellent flags.

Virginia Tory03 Dec 2019 10:26 a.m. PST

I think he's doing email direct requests only now. But he's still out there.

Jeffers03 Dec 2019 3:11 p.m. PST

22ndFoot +1

Service from both is excellent.

I like Rick's flags because they are already on the staff and nicely blowing.

MSU John03 Dec 2019 5:53 p.m. PST

I'm all in for GMB. Great flags, great service.

doc mcb,

My go to for completed flags is Adolfo Ramos. He has a pretty quick turn around (I would say I usually get orders from him -- in Spain -- in two weeks or so) and I like the quality of the printed flags.

I started ordering from him about four years ago and have quite a few of his flags now, Napoleonic, AWI, and SCW.

You guys spend so much time looking for him… someone bag and tag him! I think it says a lot about his stuff that others are always asking after him.

doc mcb04 Dec 2019 5:51 p.m. PST

Adolfo Ramos does look good. Thanks for the tip.

I spoke to Rick at Salute after seeing his announcement on his website and he is definitely still in business. He said he was going to continue to do shows and had even organised a UK/European agent, although nothing yet on their website. redeagleminiatures.co.uk

doc mcb05 Dec 2019 9:40 a.m. PST

Good! now he needs a US agent (just sayin')
