It certainly doesn't look like it from u-boat.net. U-235 didn't see much service (although it was sunk twice, the second times accidentally by the Kriegsmarine!)

U-235 is a reference to Uranium 235, NOT U-boat 235. The story is loosely based on the fact that 80% of the uranium for the "Little Boy" atomic bomb came from the Congo. The story just amps it up so that Belgian freedom fighters need to hijack a U-boat to bring the U-235 to the US for the Manhattan project.
