The photos aren't very good but it looks like they're all in 'early' armour. So Genpei War through to Nanbokuchou maybe. (1150-1400). Though it looks like some of the figures are wearing 16th century helmets, and there are arquebusiers in the range too. |

To be honest this Old Glory range is a bit of an anachronistic mish-mash of armour/weapon/clothing/hair-styles from the 12th to 16th centuries. Almost like someone looked at some Osprey colour plates and didn't really understand how the armour was put together or how it evolved over the centuries. On the other hand they do capture the highly stylised, semi-fantasy look of 19th century Kuniyoshi warrior prints so perhaps that's what they were aiming for. |

I use them for up to the year 1600. I let them share a table with Perry Miniatures ashigaru for my arquebusiers, and it all looks great(the Old Glory arquebusiers were not available when I painted these in the mid-90's). I'm normally not an Old Glory fan, but I loved painting this range – I did over 500 of them. |

What happened to your King Kong project, all done? |

I enjoyed painting the Old Glory Samurai foot too! I did some Old Glory converting early on and put hand guns on several Ashigaru Spearmen. Turned out quite well. I painted mine 2 years ago (though they had been primed, sitting in a drawer for a couple of years before that). See them here at the bottom of the page; link |

@Rabelais,Mike O, Lucius and skipper John : So if everything is mixed it is usable historically, it's a pity they look nice. Who makes 28 mm samurai figurines XII century for the war between the Taira and Minamoto clans? Can be more original than what happens in the 16th and 17th centuries? @nnascati: I miss all the jungle that I had ordered but that never happened, but I was refunded, I finally bought all the rest -the rule- heroes – sailors – natives – animals as in the film of 2005 so I'm quiet, I have more than enough time to take care of it because I got tired of this case. But that's not the topic. Cheers, Pascal |

Who makes 28 mm samurai figurines XII century for the war between the Taira and Minamoto clans? The Assault Group. West Wind Productions. 1st Corps. Zenit/Kensei do some suitable figures as well, but you have to find them in their ranges, as they're mixed in with figures in later armour. The 'kuge' faction has most of the figures in early armour I think. |

Thank you Rabelais because at one time I had many books on the samurai armies at all times including those of Osprey, I knew well, but now I do not know anything because I sold everything and therefore forgotten Fortunately, there is TMP! |
