A very simple query; at what point do you consider the rules for WW1 naval change into the rules for WW2? I use GQ1 and 2 as my go to sets, and I'm looking at buying the Hallmark fleet packs for Argentina, Brazil and Chile for hypothetical 1920s or 1930s games. As the rules change in how ship values are calculated, which set would people consider better? |

I'd say when new post-war construction incorporating war-time lessons is sliding down the slipways – mid-20s or so at the earliest? By the early '30s at the latest, ships had been 'modernized' compared to WWI ships. Having said that, Argentina, Brazil and Chile would not have ships of the same quality for the period as Europe and the US, so even well into the '30s I would use GQ2 for them. |

For interwar South America, I'd use GQ2, with specific rules borrowed from GQ1 where appropriate. Most of the ships in the ABC fleets would be WWI or prewar designs, and the tactics and tech would all be late-WWI in nature until the mid-late '30s. - Ix |

Thanks for the ideas. I think either set would work, but I incline towards the GQ2 option. However, the destroyer types seem rather more capable than WW1 classes, and they're a high proportion of the navies, so I might use the GQ1 stats for them. |
