…A log cabin, thought to date to the Civil War era or even earlier, was found inside the house, according to the Nevada County Depot and Museum. The cabin may even have witnessed a Civil War battle… link |

Interesting. I occasionally watch the DIY network program "Barnwood Builders." They've dismantled and reassembled several old cabins that were "concealed" inside a house when the owners improved them with wood, metal, or vinyl siding. They operate primarily in the Appalachians so a "concealed" cabin will be better preserved. Maybe the Nevada County Depot and Museum should contact them for their assistance. Jim |
