I think the Boxer's a great AFV. I hate that particular incarnation & slogan. I still feel the Namer would have been better, but I believe UK doesn't buy Israeli gear because/ … reasons. |

The UK military certainly does buy Israeli gear: Litening targeting pods for a start. I'm sure there are lots of other examples, in both directions. |

OK, Midlander65 … I have to ask … what are Litening Targeting Pods? Swingfire & FA 80s & 90s, for context… |

Litening Targeting Pods. I'm no expert in this area but from a quick Google, an aircraft mounted pod with FLIR, laser range-finder and targeting, widely used by the RAF and many others. I think the UK military has also bought UAVs and munitions – don't know what else – from Israel. There certainly isn't a blanket rule though that the UK doesn't buy Israeli gear. Don't look to me though to defend the train wreck that is the UK's AFV procurement 'strategy'. |

The Namer is far too heavy strategically. Great protection, but it's the screaming example of why we need much better (and much heavier use of) Active Protection Systems. |
