What a wonder weapon. Firing a 15 lb. shell at 1030 m/s ? And this with a barrel length of only 8.2 feet = 33.3 calibers in length. The 75mm/L70 KwK 42 on the German Panther could only do 925-935 m/s. Remarkable!

A penetration of 100mm at 550 yds is probably a conversion from 500 meters. But , we can't assume it is at 30° or 0°. But this would be in the ball park of a 75mm German model 40 anti-tank gun.

According to wikipedia's entry: link it was an L/48 weapon.

The only way that 15lb shell could penetrate 100mm /30° @ 500meters is if the muzzle velocity was 830 m/s.

I wonder how they got the MV up to 1020 mps.

So it looks like that the MV was 840 m/s for the 6.6 kg. (14.6 lb) shell but 1030 m/s for the 4.1 kg. Which incidentally is the weight of a 75mm Pzgr. 40 (APCR) projectile.
