Hi Recommendations whether to use white glue or super glue to attach small stones to a Mdf house. Which works better. I don't want to do a side wall and have the stones fall off later |

I would use either Tacky Glue or carpenter's glue before plain white glue, but still not sure how long they would stay stuck. Another option would be construction adhesive (liquid nails or PL200). |

Endorse hot glue or construction adhesive if adhering stones to MDF. Or in lieu of actual stones, consider cutting stone shapes out of thin cardboard/chipboard and adhering them instead…this could be done with regular PVA, carpenters or tacky glue. Then paint and drybrush to desired colors. |

The only caution that I have about hot glue guns is the temperature of where the items are stored. I had a bunch of buildings made and then assembled with hot-glue. The buildings sat outside in my vehicle for about 3 hours in the morning (granted it was in the mid 90s (or 30s))and all the hot-glue melted. |

I used White PVA, in the past, but I've since switched to yellow Wood Glue PVA: much stronger, less water content. I've had stones glued to MDF for several years, now, without issue. If you bang them around, it will likely break off/away, but without such abuse, they will likely stay attached for more than a decade. Hot Glue is difficult to manage properly. It is too viscous, and it generally is too thick to hide. The Wood Glue shrinks, as it dries. It also adheres to MDF (compressed wood fiber) really well, and really strong. When it has broken on me, it was the glue, itself, which broke away from itself, not the Wood Glue separating from the MDF. Heat won't melt PVA, but water will, over time. Keep it dry, and you won't have any issues. Cheers! |
