Sorry I tried to delete the duplicate post and all I did was managed to delete the text of the messages.

Any way I need a cheap camera to do green screening of individual 25mm figures. 150.00 to 200.00 USD. The pictures my friends take with their Phones are great except back ground blur so I got to think this is possible with a purpose made camera, right? Any recommendations, Amazon links?

Your phone will do this perfectly well.

Getting what you want in focus is a matter of knowing how to use your camera app.

I assume by green screening you mean taking a photo of s single figure in front of a green or plain colored background?

Yep EC, I want to take pictures on a green, white or blue back ground so I can fill with transparent color. How ever I don't have a phone that takes pictures I a have a 12 year old Flip phone without a Data account that I use about once a year to call the tow truck. So I need a camera.

Hopefully one with a good auto focus and still setting.

It'll literally be cheaper to buy a phone than a camera.

If you nee to use the flash, try covering it with Scotch tape. That diffuses the light and prevents glare.

I'm really dubious about a phone I am clueless as to how to use them and I don't want to pay a monthly fee for one. I pay 10 bucks a month for my flip phone.

Why does everybody want me to buy a phone I don't want one?

Dynaman878913 Nov 2019 2:49 p.m. PST

Mainly due to phones nodging purpose built cameras out of business. You can still buy high end cameras but low price cameras that are anything more than toys are long gone.

Buy a "burner phone". The camera should still be adequate for your purpose.

The iPad is superb for this task.

Go with a inexpensive digital camera. A point & shoot will do fine. You will likely be better served by taking some time to look at the various settings and how they will work best for you. Another option is looking online at some various camera stores for a used DSLR. Adorama might be a place to start.

If you use a prepay phone you don't actually have to buy any time. Just charge the phone and use the camera. Move the images over to the microSD card and transfer them to your computer.

OK I'm going to go over to Best buy next week with a figure or two and try out some of thier cameras I have a lot of pictures to take, of figures and equipment ranging from 25mm to maybe 50mm in height. The main thing is I need to get the subject well in focus and the back ground uniform so I can get good fill in my graphics program when I crank up the color tolerance on on the fill tool. A lot of that I know is lighting but Focus is important too. Thanks for the input so far and please keep it coming.

Ebay

I second eBay (although thanks to the first Transformers movie, I can no longer even hear that name in my head without it being in Optimus Prime's voice). You will find very inexpensive phones that may be slightly used for very cheap. Just do your research on the seller and buy domestic.

lancerrunolfsson, I have a Canon Power Shot digital camera that I have used for a few years now. I actually "borrowed" it from my wife. I've been happy with the quality of the photos. Take a look at my sale ads, you will see photos taken with it on my Flickr page.

A "last generation" phone, bought second hand will be your best value. I take all my photos with an old phone that we never upgraded. You can see my photos at:

A nice thing about the phone: you can set up Flickr to upload automatically when you hit wifi, no data plan needed. That's what mine does.

Here is a shot that sounds kinda like what you're talking about:

Taken on my kitchen counter, no flash.

Here is what I finally ordered

I went over to best I spotted it on Amazon I like the MP Rating and the 35x optical zoom. They dd not have it in stock. But matched Amazons price and I have till January 14th to do an in store return if I don't like it. I played with some of the cameras they had and ones with inferior specs performed at an acceptable level. I took a couple of figures with me. I get it in 4 days. Thanks for all the help so far. A friend has offered me an I-Phone six he does not use I'll try that out too.

I too have a flip phone. I use it to talk to people. Unfortunately the GSM operating system is about to be dropped to make way (on the spectrum) for newer technology.

I guess we will need to learn how to operate newer tech.

Beware of preload cards that expire after 30 days.

Ok Got the new Camera today. Tried it out don't have the hang of the lighting to get a shadow free back ground. But it was trivial to fill in the background with a uniform Chroma Key green. It only took a couple of minutes per picture and I only used the fill tool unless I was making a base smaller.

How do you post pictures I only get a link?
