We (Oxford Wargames Society) will be running a Solferino participation game at the Warfare convention, Reading UK, on Sunday 17 November. If you'd like to command a corps or two, please do come by. We're equally happy to have players join in for the whole battle or just drop in for half an hour. Rules will be BBB, so we could get through the whole battle twice in the day. (Or maybe not, depending how much we spend chatting rather than fighting.) Chris |

What a great weekend that was! Warfare is a terrific show. I managed to get to both days. Saturday was spent doing the rounds of the traders, admiring all the display/participation games, and introducing a junior relative to the joys of wargames conventions. His and my skeleton hordes did our bit to defeat the dwarves and ducks at Portchester castle – special thanks to Boscombe Down and Amesbury Wargames Club for a fun game. Sunday was equally successful. We fought through our Solferino game one and a half times – good going considering I felt like I spent the whole day chatting with interested persons rather than playing. Big thanks to those who joined in the game and those who stopped by for a natter. Really good to meet so many good guys (including not one but two Italian wargamers who were evidently pleased to see this battle being fought). Huge thank you as always to the Wargames Association of Reading for laying on such a great show. Looking forward to even bigger and better (and less car parking hassle) when Warfare moves to Ascot next year. Chris |
