This is why I most likely will not buy into Black Seas….. I am happy with what I can do with my WarArtisan 1/600 paper ships. This is Argus and Belvidera, and Africa WIP. To these kits I have added gunport lids and in the case of Belvidera, gun barrels, Boats, cats, channels and a few other touches. All the rigging is pulled sprue.

Yes Great Job You have the time the experience and obviously the skill to produce beautiful models. This has been learned probably over a number of years with its learning curve of what to do and what not to do. Have you ever tracked the amount of time it takes you to build your models and then how long takes to build a fleet (…or two) Sets like Black Sails give the average enthusiastic an opportunity to get involved in a period in a reasonable time using common methods and rules hopefully making it easier to find opponents. Here you have the chance to start off with a few vessels ad then join others in the experience Off course you will have to pay for all that convenience but again hoe expensive and how available is time ? |

As far as rules go, there is a plethora of AoS rule sets out there going back to DGUTS and other early AoS rules. Bought the Black Sails rules – they now share shelf space with other sets. |

Channels, catheads, boats, etc. are really nice modifications, but open gunports with protruding gun tubes are really impressive. I would not survive the attempt to make those. - Ix |

Thank you all for your comments. I was not criticizing Black Seas…. just saying I am not going to buy in. Have you ever tracked the amount of time it takes you to build your models and then how long takes to build a fleet (…or two) Yes, actually. I can knock out 3-4 of these in an evening if I am undisturbed. I did these and 6 other hulls that are now waiting for rigging Wed/Thur/Saturday morning. Rigging the brig took me about an hour. |

Awesome work on those, and your custom made additions enhance the kits nicely. |

I suppose I'd never be able to come close to your work output. People have been telling me that I'm disturbed for years. |

I made a few of these (anglo-dutch though) and they take the same time as a painted ship for me. There is cutting and gluing, but no painting. Different skill set though not any harder. Also got some Warlord vessels. Not sure I am going to expand though. |

Very impressive ! You've set an example for the rest of us to try and emulate. |

Very impressive! I want to do the 1/300 scale lake wars ships. Although the balsa wood sculpting for the hull form is putting me off. |

I have done the lake ships too. Not sure what you mean by sculpting. All they need is a rough plug. |
