"During the two centuries in which Mexico and the United States have shared a border, allegations of out-of-control immigration, with Mexican immigrants posing a threat to American security, have often been a staple of American politics and a source of friction and concern.

But the worry has worked both ways. In the immediate wake of Mexico's successful war for independence from Spain, Mexican officials grew alarmed about illegal immigration from the United States. By the late 1820s, the situation on the border, located on the Sabine River that today separates Texas from Louisiana, appeared to be reaching the crisis stage…."

Remember that they also offered succor to the Kickapoos to migrate from Kansas to Coahuila and help them combat Apaches, Comanches, and Kiowas from the north. As in all human migrations it does have a plus to it.

You might want to actually learn Texas history before you post,Tango. The Mexican government begged anglos to come to Texas because they couldn't handle the Indians. At that time there were only around 4,000 Mexican citizens in Texas, basically 2,000 in Goliad and 2,000 in Nacadoches.

Yes, to my knowledge Cpt of Gate is correct. There were conflicts among the local Indian Tribes and the Mexicans as well as the incoming US citizens who as noted were welcomed.
