Looking for some input on the colors used on these figures.

I'm liking the kneeling figure the best. Number one was painted just because often that's how I think of Army Green but it's pretty bright.

Here's the paints I used, all Vallejo. Equipment and flak jackets were the same for all figures.
1 – US Uniform 922
2 – Russian Green 894
3 – Russian Uniform 924
4 – US Dark Green 893

Flak jackets Khaki Grey 880
Webbing, pouches, khaki 988, Brown Violet 887.

Thanks for looking.

Would love to see these as larger images. Daylight might be better than flash as well. You would lose the shadows.

I am a big fan of Vallejo so would love to learn more

I forget you can't enlarge pictures here. A better set up for taking pictures would be better but then I would have to clean up my workbench :-)

Now that is really useful…..many thanks that you went to the effort to use four different base colours.

I would agree that 922 despite its name is far too bright. But the rest are great. 924 is simply invaluable, although never for Russian soldiers…perfect for French Artillery Green in Napoleonic Era. I also tried out German Uniform 920, as recommended here. It has that slightly bluish tinge of the brand new utilities back then (although may just be the dated photography instead). Great work

Note also the standard US Jungle Fatigues faded a bit as time went on. Almost to a light pea green … I've still got 2-3 sets from when I was in the Army. After the Vietnam War, '79-'90.

It depends. There is no one correct answer.

Age of the clothing would change colours due to fading as Legion says.

Also lighting. If your troops are meant to be under triple canopy jungle they will look darker than if in bright sunlight. And if it is rainy season and they are soaked to the skin it's going to be different again.

These figures all look to be within the limits acceptable.

Thanks to all for the replies. I wanted to make sure I was in the ballpark.

I should have mentioned that I gave all the figures a brown wash then a light dry brush of Russian Uniform 924. The wash is homemade based on Vallejo Smoke 939 and Speedball Warm Black.

This squad of figures I'm going to do with the Russian Uniform 924. I did do one LMG figure in German Uniform 920. just to see.

I took a trip to a N Yorks market town today, to a high street store that still stocks Vallejo paints. Weirdest thing actually. Way out in the Dales.

and found almost every paint listed…and they still seem liquid! Thanks again
