Comrades, I was reading through the rule set and the supplement for the ECW and I didn't see any modifier for the option of pike with armour. Did I miss it? If there isn't one, has anyone adopted a house rule to modify the saves? I was thinking a +1 save in melee. |

Why? How much use was a bit of armour really. If it was so effective fully armoured pikemen would have persisted. They didn't. |

Hi Unlucky General The ‘save' in Pike and Shotte is based on morale / troop quality, rather than just hardware. Often better quality troops might have better armour and so these will have a better save. In general it is assumed in the base rules that the Pikemen have a better save then musketers. You can rationalise this as them having armour, or at least more armour than the muskets. You can use the rules with units of combined pike and shot. In this case your save is looking at overall troop quality. The great thing is that it is tailor-able. Adjust as you prefer :) |
