Hello mates,

I add some photos about works at a spanish brig.

I have use the hull from Warlord Games and I have done the masts scratch build ussing brass and steel rods.
I have also sanded the top of the hull because it represent poorly the hamdocks ( it is only my opinion).
I have added two staples at the back to represent the davits.
Regarding the ratlines, I have used nickel silver (alpaca) ratlines stronger than brass ratlines.

Is alpaca a company making ratlines or is this something you knitted out of alpaca wool?

ModelJShip05 Nov 2019 12:38 p.m. PST

alpaca is the spanish traduction, in english it is nickel silver

Nice model, nicely painted but, rigging should generally go the other way – it braces against the wind, holding the mast back.

Much harder to do of course but, c'est la vie..

Olican, I don't understand what you mean. The rig is made according to plans of a brig. Could you tell me what you mean?, I would like to learn.

It's a beautiful model Julian, well done.

Olicana, I'm not sure what you're objecting to in the rigging. The lines are represented correctly on this model.

A brig rigging is not like a frigate one. I already learned it in his day… doing wrong rigging ; )

Your models look nicer than the real thing. grin

What I think is that olicana have confused a Brig with a Brigantine. Both very similar but not equal.
The brig rigging from above while the brigantine rigging from below.

Very nice indeed…

Where did you acquire the ratlines?
I like the look of them, and the brig came out fantastic
