Early this summer I upgraded my computer for about 3k(not including the new 27" monitor. )
Which ment I could play anything I wanted on max settings.
That was until today, when red dead redemption 2 came out on the PC.
I can not run it on max settings and 1440p. It trogs at 26fps.

So I need to tinker with the settings to get it up to 60fps.(I've gotten it up to about 45fps)

But it plays much better on the PC. Using the mouse instead of the controller is a dream. In an early mission you need to shotgun 5 wolves. 3 attacking you on foot and 2 while on horse.
With the controller I died several times trying to hit those wolves.
Now with gods own interface the mouse. It killed them dead on seconds.

Using a mouse for first person shooters is cheating grin.

When the mouse works better than the dedicated controller, it means the programmer is incompetent.

No it means consoles will always be inferior.

And it's not an fps, even if it can be played like that it's native view is 3rd person.

I haven't played RDR2, but in 2005's _Gun_, there was a horse riding mission I had to plug in a controller to complete. I couldn't do it at all with the mouse.

Man, and I thought I was having a bad day when I went sliding down a flight of stairs while serving a search warrant. Prayers up, Gunfreak. lol

"When the mouse works better than the dedicated controller, it means the programmer is incompetent."

This is what one says when you haven't ever had to actually implement said controls.

Smooth controller action requires a lot of work (and autoaim and smoothing adjustments) to get right. You better believe that if it feels smooth and natural, it's because someone worked really hard to make it that way.

It's not easy, even for people who do it regularly for a living.

Had to crank down the graphics to get it over 60fps.
I get 70 to 80 now.
Waiting for various patches to the game and graphics drivers to see if I can get them up again.

Still looks purdy though.

When you upgraded your computer, what graphics card did you add? Just curious how it compares to my older card…

I went from a GTX1080 to a RTX2080TI, the best on the market at that time. Cost about $1,500 USD
