After spending considerable time looking at various 28mm WWII minis ranges, I think I've narrowed down most of my wants to the following companies' products: 1. Offensive Miniatures 2. Empress Miniatures 3. TAG – The Assault Group 4. Warlord – primarily metals, but might do plastics too, as time permits, eventually So, given that, I'd like to just do one more check to see what people think of these manufacturers' products, as far as size and heft go, from a compatibility standpoint? I think from what I've read, and what I'm seeing, it appears at first glance that they should all work reasonably well together. I'm especially interested in the Offensive Miniatures to Empress size comparison, but obviously want to know how these compare to TAG and Warlord as well. Any and all opinions and thoughts will be greatly appreciated. |

Ok, very easy. Offensive and Empress are virtually identical in size and bulk. I have forces with a mix of both and I can't tell which is which without picking up the figures and looking closely. Warlord and TAG will mix well together and are a bit bigger/chunkier than the Offensive/Empress. Except for the following TAG German packs LGW013-18 Late war German Panzergrenadiers, which were sculpted by Shane Hoyle and are the same size as Empress/Offensive ranges. The bulk of TAG's figures are sculpted by Richard Ansell. I mix all 4 ranges on the table without problems. |

I have to agree with what Fred has said. I also have all 4 of these ranges and he has given a good evaluation of them. |

Thanks for the replies, info, and confirmations. I really appreciate them, and was hoping for that. I'm interested in the TAG German Late War packs, so that's perfect as well. |

The Empress figures are amazing and pair well with Offensive and Perry miniatures. I'd buy these figures no matter what. I've never seen the TAG sculpts in person but the pictures look fairly average and Warlord shouldn't even be on anybodies list. ;) |

Wish the Perry brothers made more late-war stuff, but imagine they'll get around to it, eventually. |

I have the TAG for Vietnam. The figures are quite ok as in B-, while Empress' are more A/A+ The advantage of Warlord figures is that you can mix and match from different plastic sets and obtain interesting figures. While I am most always aiming for "high sculpt standard", I am quite happy to have warlord's figures in my collection (besides the US paras that are fuggly beyond words). |

TAG produces some figs that others don't, e.g. Panzerknackers. I like the Warlord figs, since they are very nice poses, and many look superb! Of course, there are some faces that seem a bit questionable too, but on the whole from what I've seen on-line, and in person, they are for the most part, quite nice. I'm not enamored with having to assemble and glue them though, since I'm not sure I have the time or patience to do that right now, which is why I'm leaning towards those of other manufacturers (one-piece castings), and possibly some of the Warlord metals. |

I just received Offensive US Paras and Fallshirmjagers. Very nice. After receiving them I ordered the group pack of their new Waffen SS. The Offensive figs scale up well with the Perry WWII figs and 1/56 vehicles. |

I ordered a bunch of Offensive Miniatures and am painting them up – great figures. I was going to use them with Bolt Action stuff but they didn't seem to match up well. |

Thresher01 you've got size differences and those of winter / summer clothing too. I've ended up with 3 German platoons for my Chain of Command battles 1. a 1943/44 platoon for North Africa and Italy based on Perry miniatures 2. A Normandy platoon based on Warlord, but with some TAG and Black Tree Design thrown in. 3. A 1944/45 'defending the Reich' type force, with Empress, and Offensive that can be made up as Wehrmacht, Volksgrenadier or Volksturm. I suppose that's about 150 figures all up, to give a wide number of possibilities … until I decide I need a Blitzkrieg 1940 one as well! EC |
