FOW has died a death in these parts, and my ww2 stuff has been gathering dust since the end of third ed. I don't want to get rid of it, and i'd like to use it. But with a lack of interest in FOW what else can I use them for? I did try Battlegroup …but I didnt fancy it much. So, what other company-level rules are there for 15mm that I might be able to get people to play? thanks! |

We have loads of players doing Chain of Command with their FoW minis. Its a platoon level game so no tank mating grounds, but you can do 2 on 2 matches that will have a troop or platoon of vehicles per player. And it is a much more historically accurate skirmish game than BA. Mark |

I'm partial to Battlegroup. |

My preferred 'company level' WWII game is PBI by Peter Pig/RFCM … It is played on a grid with bases or 'groups' (which are, for orthodox, 30x30 with 2 or 3 figures on, but as all mechanics are by groups, it really doesn't matter how many figures are on the base).
I use an adapted old version of the rules but you might like the latest iteration which is wavailable from their website They have quite a following. These pictures are fom last week's game … North Africa – French and Italians.
Have fun … Phil P.B.Eye-Candy |

It can work for many different rules, with or without re-basing. Battlefont WW-II or Command Decision:Test of Battle are two I like |

The miniature are still there. There are tons of rulesets out there that other people have mentioned above. As someone who never gets rid of anything I say keep them. |

Will throw in a vote for Rapid Fire. And nothing says you can't do some fun one to one games like What a Tanker! |

Put them away in a few years some new set of rules will be out nd the WW@ fanboys will latch on. |

Chain of Command. Also Dave Brown's new WW2 rules coming soon … |

My favorite is I Ain't Been Shot Mum, by TooFat Lardies. I started with the 2nd edition and moved into the 3rd. My gaming buddy has his forces on FOW bases, but mine are not. Has never caused any problems in our games. |

You should send them all to me, post paid, of course. :) Or brow-beat others into playing a game. If they are wearing brow protection, you can try solo rules like Two Hour Wargames: Free sets to see if you like the mechanics: link WWII rules: link |

If you're playing for your own interest, why not write your own rules or adapt an existing set? |

Lot's of options out there. We've used 5core Company Command with success. link |

Depending on what you've got for armour, you could play What A Tanker. And like Saber 6 said, except you should ignore both of them and send it to me. Eric |

Could you not just play FOW using version of rules you like? |
Mike Target | 05 Nov 2019 5:22 a.m. PST |
thanks guys, some stuff to consider there! "Could you not just play FOW using version of rules you like?" well, I could…but it took us two years to pick a version of WHFB we could all agree on, so I don't have high hopes! |
Extra Crispy | 05 Nov 2019 6:16 a.m. PST |
I play Crossfire with mine. I also play my variant of FoW "Flames of Awesomesauce" based on 3rd: link Though it sounds like the real issue is getting guys to agree on rules more than anything. |

Honestly, if you can't get a game of FoW together you'll probably be in the same boat with any other game due to their relative obscurity as well. That will leave you in a position where you will need to provide both armies for a game and at that point why not just put a game of 3rd Ed. FoW on? |

5core Company Command indeed. It's a very interesting set of rules that will change you from FOW. Worth giving it a try if only try a novel approach to game. |

We refer to Rapid Fire as Snail Wars because there's so much looking up on charts that there's nothing remotely rapid about them. I'd stick to a version of FoW you actually do like, we have. |
coopman | 06 Nov 2019 12:03 p.m. PST |
Rapid Fire has the fastest anti-tank fire resolution system that I've ever seen in any miniatures rules for WWII. |
Marc33594 | 06 Nov 2019 12:31 p.m. PST |
I too am a bit mystified. Rapid Fire has a whole 5 modifiers total for tank to tank or anti tank to tank fire for example. Terrain effects are built into the combat table so no need to look up. For ease just prepare a simple sheet with all the vehicles for a particular game. All of 4 simple entries: Road speed, Cross Country Speed, Target class (A-F) and Gun class (1-6). |

You can check out Rapid Fire for Rookies. Give you a feel for the game. We enjoy them and found nothing slow or cumbersome about them. Dave |

Crossfire works perfect. We play house rules for the tanks. And Spearhead is also good with 15mm. We play it with 150% measuring. – I didnt see, you want company sized rules. |
Northern Monkey | 10 Nov 2019 2:02 p.m. PST |
If Crossfire works perfect, why play house rules fur the tanks? |
